The Village of Shorewood Hills, Dane County, Wisconsin (population 2139) is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Forester. Shorewood Hills is a highly desirable community that is an inner ring suburb of Madison, Wisconsin’s capital city. The Assistant Forester position is a multi-faceted position with tasks involving tree pruning/removals, tree planting, plant healthcare, horticultural work within village green spaces, ecosystem restoration/improvement, and involves the operation of small and large equipment.
Requirements for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience directly related to tree care, plant healthcare, and horticulture is strongly preferred but not required. Experience with chainsaws, brush chippers, herbicide application, and operating related equipment is strongly preferred. This position requires the ability to maneuver in various strenuous environments and to operate in extreme weather conditions as well as the ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly over an extended period. Evening, weekend, and holiday work is occasionally required. This position is considered an emergency response position and thus the employee is required to live within a 30-minute response time.
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. The hourly rate for this position is $20-$23.50 DOQ/DOE.
